Feeling your Bladder Isn't Empty After Urinating, This Is What Could Be the Cause

Urinating is an essential part of the human system because it involves the filtration and removal of excess fluid from the blood through the urinary tract. Urine is often a toxic and harmful substance that is extracted from the circulatory fluid and expelled out of the body because if left in the body might lead to certain health challenges.

In this article, I would be talking about 4 things that could be the potential cause of feeling your bladder isn't empty after urinating.

Let's get into it then..........

For effective removal of urine from the human body there is a system known as the urinary tract which consists of the kidney, bladder, ureter and urethra. All these organs work in harmony to ensure that urination occurs properly and relief is brought to the body.

Any defect in any of these organs can harm the body and can lead to urologic disease which is a problem that includes the urinary tract. Some urologic conditions last long while some last for short periods.

But in today’s article, we are going to take a look at one symptom which is the retention of urine in the bladder even after urinating which is known as urinary retention. Below are a few urological conditions that can lead to this

1.    Urinary Tract Infection (UTIs)

This is an infection in any part of the urinary system which are caused by microorganisms usually bacteria, sometimes fungi or in rare cases viruses. Although UTIs happens mostly in the urethra which is known as urethritis and bladder also known as cystitis in more severe cases it affects the kidney which is known as pyelonephritis.

2.   Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia(BPH)

This health condition is also known as prostate gland enlargement which occurs mostly in men as they grow older. The prostate gland is located under the bladder and the tube that transports urine from the bladder to the urethra passes through the prostate. So when the prostate begins to enlarge it tends to push against the bladder and tube, shutting off the flow of urine passing through. BPH is usually linked to hormonal changes as men get older.

3. Calculi

These are solid masses made of crystals that develop along the urinary tract also known as. They usually form when minerals from urine crystalize and clump together in the bladder. These clumps when it gets too big or too many might block the urinary tract from passing out urine efficiently which will eventually lead to urinary retention and in worse case scenarios, bleeding. Bladder stones usually develop when urine stays in the bladder for long.

4.    Pelvic Organ Prolapse

This is a medical condition whereby a pelvic organ such as the uterus, bowel, womb, bladder drops from its normal position and bulge into the vagina making it difficult to urinate properly along with other symptoms. Although this condition might not be life-threatening, it can cause discomfort and pain.
